Re-Entry Council 2nd Chance Education scholarship

Our work to remove barriers for those who have returned or will be returning from prison or jail has been noticed by a foundation that wishes to help, but also wishes to remain anonymous. The Re-Entry Council 2nd Chance Education scholarship, which started last year will continue through 2021-2022, by providing funds ($15,000 annually) to be utilized to assist those that are justice involved with continuing education opportunities made available at their local community college(s) statewide.
To qualify one must be (1) justice involved (2) endorsed by the Local Re-entry Council Rep and Local Community College HRD Rep (must complete HRD class requirements ie; Job Readiness Boot Camp or similar type HRD classes). The qualification process is to ensure readiness and seriousness of the candidate(s). This money is available NOW on a 1st come 1st serve basis until the funds are gone!!! For those Reentry Councils who are not familiar with your local community college HRD representative contact me and I will get you introduced. The HRD representative can then work with their Workforce Continuing Education department once the individual meets the HRD requirements to decide on a best path of credentials for career opportunity based on the individuals background and situation. Greg Singleton, Craven Community College and the Craven Pamlico Re-Entry Council is the primary contact with the donor.

Please be aggressive in providing our justice involved clientele with the cure to recidivism > EDUCATION! LRC’s, please track each applicant that is awarded this scholarship so that we can share the successes and failures by report to the foundation.
